How launching Pendulum Presence is a bit like ‘coming out’
Launching Pendulum Presence meant that I was publicising my energy healing practice for the first time. Of course, close family and friends knew I have long been interested in what people might refer to as spirituality more so than religion, or ‘alternative’ or ‘new age’ systems. Since being introduced to Reiki in 2012 I practised it only occasionally, being more interested in the small amount of pendulum work I had learned during the training I received. Not one for a gym, I have preferred walking and yoga and in the last couple of years have started Kundalini Yoga and mantra-chanting. I’ve also really enjoyed delving into astrology. All in all, it’s not too hard to see how I’ve struggled between my public persona up to now and my heartfelt interests.
My professional career has been my public persona for many years. It’s probably the case for most people. In my situation, I’ve been a primary school teacher in a school under Catholic patronage (I am in Ireland - just to clarify), and I’ve been a researcher and third level education in religious education - again mostly in the Catholic sector. My appointment as Visit Fellow in Faith Development Studies at Lincoln Bishop University (UK) gives me the freedom to explore a mixture of the experience I’ve accumulated in the mainly Catholic field thus far, with my personal practices.
In terms of faith development, I’m most interested in why people have faith, more so than what that faith is, or who or what they have faith in. I’m intrigued as to have this faith, whatever it is, integrates with their daily lives. I’d like to know more about how things changes over time, through age and especially life experiences. From my perspective, I’ve particularly been influenced by the experiences of motherhood and how being a new mother is so very different to be the mother of a 19-year-old for example, and all those moments in between.
So I’m a little nervous, but more excited, about the future as I wear my ‘energy-healer / pendulum-worker’ badge on my sleeve in this new and public way.
Here goes!
