Being a researcher actually enhances my energy healing work!
Energy healing and academic research are not necessarily two avenues of work that are frequently associated with each other. I’ve got the impression, and perhaps I’m wrong, that to some people who know me from my professional work as an academic, that I’ve somehow softened or even lost my way by indulging myself in energy healing. Firstly, I’ve always been drawn to it, I simply never publicised it. Secondly, I actually find that rigorous researcher side of me greatly enhances my energy healing practice. As a researcher and academic writer, clarity and precision are essential. The same applies to my approach in pendulum healing.
One example is the importance of the question. Good quality research has at its foundation a clear unambiguous question – ideally one that has a singular focus, or else the researcher must also acknowledge some sub-questions. In pendulum work, it is necessary to employ very clear questions – to be specific and directed.
Another area is that of recognising one’s own limitations and position. There’s a limit to the scope of a high-quality research project – you can only achieve so much when working to such a level of detail. Additionally, it is necessary to admit whether you have a conflict of interest in a research study. I have no qualms in declining a pendulum healing request if I think that there are too many variables to consider or if I have an emotional investment myself in any outcome. In such situations, it’s ethical to remain neutral and not involved.
Thirdly, as a researcher, the data is always the most important aspect to me. There have been projects I’ve been involved in where if the data states something, that’s what I honour, regardless of whether it is going to be what the funder would ideally want to hear. A good researcher also stays true to the data. I employ the same rigour to my energy healing.
Finally, as my first love in research was quantitative, I am accustomed to seeing correlations and patterns. I find this very useful indeed in joining the dots in my energy healing work. I can see the links between the information given to me by my client and the insights given by the pendulum. It helps me to return to the client with more questions that help reveal further connections, such as information the client had not originally thought was relevant.
In all, the energy healing work is as much a voyage of discovery as my research work and thankfully both bring me great joy.
